Why Join a Small Group?

  1. You will understand the Bible better in a small group.

A small group community is a place where Truth (of God's Word) meets Life. It is the perfect setting to ask questions, participate in discussion, and hear others share insights and illustrations of the truth you have been taught.

  2. You will feel like a part of God's family.

Most people who have been a part of a group say the greatest benefit it the close relationships and friendships that develop. We are instructed in God's Word to love one another, pray for one another, encourage one another, accept one another, bear one another's burdens and build up one another. Small groups provide the community to obey these commands. We really do need each other.

  3. Prayer will become more meaningful to you.

Many people are hesitant to pray in front of others, or in larger groups. In small groups, you will learn to participate in prayer by having a conversation together with God. In praying together, we will draw closer to God and to one another in authentic Christian community. We will learn to seek and trust God more as we find answers to our needs.

  4. You will be able to handle stress and life trials better.

Small groups provide excellent support and encouragement in times of crisis, change, and stress. You will have a sense of peace and security knowing that there are people who really care for you and who are committed to praying and standing with you.

  5. You will have a more natural way to share Christ with unbelieving friends, family, and co-workers.

Non-believing friends may be more open to an invitation to a casual Bible discussion in a home, rather than to a large church service. In a small group setting, your unbelieving friends can meet new people, ask open questions, and express honest doubt without feeling "on the spot". It gives them an opportunity to experience a community based on the love of Christ working in our lives.

  6. You will develop leadership skills you never thought you had.

The Bible teaches that every believer is given certain talents or "gifts" to benefit others in the family of God. As you share and participate in a small group, you will discover the grace of God and the joy of serving others in the "body of Christ".

  7. You will deepen your understanding of worship.

Worship is much more than what happens on Sunday mornings at church. Worship happens any time we focus on God. Sometimes that happens best in a small group through Bible study, prayer, sharing, and singing together. Our desire is to know Jesus Christ intimately.

  8. You will discover, appreciate, and experience the richness of God's love for His people.

God calls us to love one another as Christ has loved us. As we grow in fellowship with God, we desire to share the love of Christ with others. Through small groups, you will learn how to "be Christ" to your family, your neighbors, your co-workers, and your God-given community.
